I know this must be easy but I cannot get my work area arranged the way I want it. I can move my toolbox and pallettes and save them but I can’t move the photo display area. I want to end up with my palletes and toolbox on the right side of the screen and the photo area on the left side. Can somebody give me a clue?
Thanks,
j.

Oh, sorry, should have said I’m using the Windows version of CS2. jodz

In CS2 the image windows and the palettes are totally independent of the Photoshop "work area".

Try this: Uncheck the Maximize button (top right of the workspace window), and grab the bottom of the window and "roll it up" to reveal your desktop. Now when you open an image it will be in its own independent window and can be moved anywhere you like. Same with the tools and palettes.

Once you are happy with the positions of the various items, go WINDOW>SAVE WORKSPACE that way you can always get them back in position with a simple menu click.

Hope this helps.
