I don’t know why, but Photoshop CS2 periodically drops the configured preference file on startup and replaces it with the "default’ configuration as it would after initial installation. This happens in either Win 2K or WinXP64 OS installations. Is this typical with Photoshop, or does it have to do with using network servers to store image data, perhaps?

Any clues?

It seems to happen once for every three or 4 boot ups, especially after the system is booted from cold start.

Thanks

No, it isn’t ‘typical’. It suggests your prefernce file is getting corrupted for some reason. Most common cause is closing down the machine with Photoshop still open.

I suppose this may be true. I sometimes have Windows close down the system and shut Photoshop down. I’ll try shutting down PS first, completely, then turn off the system.

Thanks for the advise. Hope it works,

Search your drive for *.tmp files. These are sometime left by Photoshop when closed incorrectly, and you can lose a lot of disk space in that way.
