I use Windows XP, AI CS2 and Photoshop V7.
Can I export PS shaded layers back to AI vector Outline?? From AI vector art coloured using Live Paint, I separated outlines, then expanded layers before expoting to PS where I shaded some areas. I thought I had read somewhere that its now possible to export back to AI with the shaded paths and update to original outline vector…Hence being able to enlarge artwork as one piece with vector outline maintaining integrity.

Is this possible OR do I need PS CS OR have I misunderstood?

Appreciate any assistance, Jane 🙂

Jane, I’m not sure if this will work for you but you should give it a try. Drag your AI file into an open PS file and convert the the new layer you just created with the AI artwork to a "Smart Object" layer.

You should then be able to make changes and bring it back to AI. However, I’m not sure if V7 has that function – I am using CS2 and no longer have V7 loaded. Good luck.

Thanks Ben. It seems as if V7 doesn’t have ‘smart object’, must be a later addition. I must upgrade sometime soon. When I do, i will look forward to trying it.
Best,
Jane 🙂
