Shouldn’t have an effect, but make sure you save / move all your actions and other plug-ins from CS to the CS2 install; I don’t remember if the uninstall trashes the CS directory structure.

The Windows uninstaller can only uninstall what it actually installed. Anything else will be left. You should recieve an alert after the uninstall that some files and/or folders couldn’t be uninstalled and you’ll need to do it manually.

Yes, I did that. The query was in connection with a question I just posted on "Opening Nikon NEF files on Photoshop CS2 Bridge. I still can’t get NEF files to open in Bridge

As far as leaving CS(1) installed. It does no harm to leave it there. It will reside in its own directory and it could actually prove useful at some time in the future to have the previous version available.
I have Picture Project 1.6 installed. I already uninstalled CS
in addition to all the other advice above, if the uninstaller asks if you want to remove "shared" files, say "NO".
