When I select the text icom nothing shows up in the layer. Arial/regular/30pt/strong – Horizontal type tool.

When I start to type I get a small black square and the coursor changes from the text "I beam" icon to the move icon. It does this on existing photos as well as making a new image.

Peace

Roy

Try resetting the Text Tool. Failing that Reset the Preferences as detailed in the FAQs

Is the text layer on top? and is the text color different from the background??

Thanks Chris, The preferences cleared it up. I didn’t exactly grok on the restarting the text tool so I did the preferences.

I subscribed to the discussion by email and when I tried replying to the email I got it bounced. We can’t post via email to this forum?

I don’t think so, unless you are going through a newreader program (which is not email, of course).

Hi JJ

Resetting the preferences did it for me. Chris is the one who recommended it.

JJ:

I sure hope you did not read this thread, where the solution was to reset the preferences (as opposed to tools), and then posted that you had similar problems… all the time without having reset your preferences.

I’m quite confident you did not do that.

Not sure what size you are looking at it, but if it is 7 or 6 pt, you won’t see much at all. Have you tried to enlarge your view? Just a thought….

John…as a matter of fact (she says sheepishly)…that is exactly what I did. This was my first time on this forum and I didn’t realize that there was another page of replies besides the ones I could see. The ones I could see without "viewing all messages" did not talk about resetting the preferences.

Good news, though! Resetting the preferences worked! I can now insert type into my images.

Thanks for your patience…I will not make this same mistake again now that I know how to view the ENTIRE thread! 🙂
