Can a copy of CS2 be partitioned on another hard drive

When I first partitioned my hard drive I did not allocate enough space for the c drive (I allocated 10 gigs) thinking that would be adequate for running all my programs. As it happens this was not enough. I now have the problem of running low on disk space when using Photoshop CS2. At this point it would be a hard job to reinstall the operating system and assign more space to the c drive. My solution to this problem was to get an additional hard drive and make the new hard drive a bootable one where I could run a copy of the operating system but give more space to the new c drive so I would not have the issue. I have 1 gig of memory in the machine at this point. I decided that that would mean every time I wanted to open another program I would have to reboot. At this point after thinking about how much time I spend on different programs I do not think that it is a wise decision. My question, Is it possible to have a second copy of Photoshop CS2 on a separate partition without re installing the whole operating system. I know that when installing Photoshop in the original hard drive it installed files in the c drive as well as other places.

Try moving your TEMP folder and the Windows paging file to another partition.

10GB should be enough to house the OS and program files. It is the volatile nature of temporary files which consume the space. The paging file alone is over 4GB on may machine.

Photoshop’s scratch disk, of course, should always be on a separate physical drive to the OS.

Also don’t forget to do a search for any orphaned .TMP files which might be needlessly consuming disk space.

Hop this helps.

Given that you’ve got two hard drives in the machine now, if it was me, I’d bite the bullet and rebuild the C drive, probably without partitioning. And then set up C for OS and programs and D for data and scratch files.

You may also want to look at a program called Partition Magic, which can do interesting things to your partitions. I haven’t used it for a couple years, but at the time it was a life-safer.

It’s a "cool beans" program.

You can alter/move/merge your partitions even whilst you have stufff installed on them.

And you can move programs from one drive to another without losing the links to the registry.

If I am understanding you correctly, why don’t you uninstall and reinstall CS2 on your other drive?
