Hey All,

Extras is turned on by default when I open up any image in Photoshop CS2 – How do I turn this off? Right now I have to turn this off every time I load an image by going into View -> Extras and uncheck it or Ctrl+H.

Thanks

Have one image opened, change the Extras options to what you want on or off. Close the image, close photoshop. When you restart, they will be as you set them.

Nope, did not work any other Ideas.

I even rebooted my computer too and then retried it.

Thanks

Does that really work for you YrbkMgr?

I’ve tried disabling this myself on a few occasions and it always shows extras when opening an image. I rarely have them off though, so no big deal, just curious.

I use Ctrl+H to toggle so often whilst working, but couldn’t tell you whether it’s on or off at the start.

Jesse, you do know you can choose the things which are affected by "Show Extras"? There is a "Show Extras Options" dialogue under VIEW>SHOW>

Every time. But let’s clarify. You go: View|Show, and select what you want.

"Extras" is just a keyboard toggle as Chris points out. The question is, which extras show when it’s enabled. If you don’t want anything to show when it’s enabled, clear the items under Show.

Since Control H also toggles the display of Guides and marching ants (selection outlines), you don’t really want it off permanently…I wouldn’t think.

So when you set your Show options, then close the image and then close photoshop, the preferences file is written, and next launch includes those choices.

Thnaks all,

I got it worked out. I had hit the Keyboard short cut of {Ctrl+’} this turned it on. But if you turn it off by View -> Extras and uncheck it or {Ctrl+H} this does not uncheck the Grid so the next image I open the grid is on again.

Big thanks for all your help!
