Hello,
In my office on an older computer [XP, 256mb, 30G free space, don’t know the Video Card) we have PS 5.5 installed, it was working fine, and then one day when the user tried to open it (via shortcut) it would open and then freeze up. The computer doesn’t freeze up, just the program, but no error messages appear, it just sits indefinitely with the hourglass. Under task manager it says its "not responding" almost immediately after opening it. Interestingly, Photoshop does not appear under add/remove programs, but all the files are still there, including the .exe file. I tried opening it directly from the .exe file, but this also does not work. I deleted the preferences file and rebooted to no effect. I am not the main user on this computer, so I can’t say exactly what happened leading up to this, but no new programs were installed and the user says they did not delete any files. Under normal circumstances, I would uninstall and reinstall, but apparently the program was installed on that computer and no one who works here now was working here then, so we have no idea where the installation disk could be. Could the drivers be corrupt? If so, where may I download files for 5.5 (I can’t find them anywhere). Thanks in advance, any help or ideas would really be appreciated.
