I am trying to do the exact same thing. I thought it was as easy as rendering text as html in the source FLA, and republishing, but no luck.

I was able to use the GETURL function in coreFunctions.as, and duplicate that, in order to add a link in the titles area, by taking out the ‘mailto’+ emailAddress, editing a var in the title.class.as page. But I want to add links on each image.
