Well, this is an incredibly task in most every graphics app, but I have searched everywhere and can’t seem to find the answer for Photoshop CS2…. I have some text/type, and I have a path/shape. All I need to do is attach the text to the shape so it conforms to the shape and then have Photoshop offer me the usual options for how far off the sahpe I was to offset the type, which direction for the type, etc. etc.

Thanks,

Tim

Have you had a dig through Photoshop’s Help files and/or the PDF manual?

Your answer will be found there, more efficiently than waiting for an answer here, methinks.

In fact I have; I have about 4 PS CS2 books; searched Google Groups, searched the web, and obviously looked in Help before posting here. I can type text on a path after the path is created. But nowhere do I see attaching already typed text to a path.
Thanks for the real enlightening help and answer to my question though, methinks.

Well, Tim, you didn’t reveal that you had looked through the help files, or that you have books. You only said "I have searched “everywhere”…" That could have easily meant that you scoured the application itself and couldn’t figure it out, or that you searched Google for a tutorial, but came up empty.

As a point of protocol, when one asks for help it’s always good to explain clearly a little about what what has already been tried.

This gives the rest of the visitors a sense of where your skill level is and helps eliminate redundant (or obvious, or accidentally patronizing) suggestions.

Now…Have you tried simply copying the text, activating the text cursor on the target path, and then pasting?

I do this type of thing in Illustrator, and I’m using Photoshop 7.0.1, so perhaps my answer won’t work for you. But it would seem to conform to the established standard way of working, eh?
