Can anyone please help me with this one. I have adobe photoshop 7.0 and have been messing about with it for hours trying to do something but can’t figure it out.

I have an image where i have an object in the foreground that i don’t want to alter at all, but i want to change the background to film grain. So the person in the front stays as it is but i want to change the background. Please can you keep any explanations very simple because i am a newbie on this application.

Thanks loads

Select the object you want to keep, copy it to a new layer, do what you like now with the background layer. Any problems with this hit F1 for help or try google for "photoshop tutorials followed by the subject like selecting, layers etc.
