JPG Files Won’t Open From the File – Most Recent Menu

I’m using Photoshop CS2 software. I have a custom built Pentium 4 3.2GHZ 800MHZ FSB computer with Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, and 2GIGS of RAM. Whenever I try to open a JPG File from the Most Recent menu in Photoshop CS2, a window will pop up stating "Could not Complete Your Request Because It Is Not a Valid Photoshop Document". Can someone tell how to correct this problem? Thank you, Leroy.
