I try to open this program, it is seen to be loading all, but then just disapears off my screen
any help would be appreciated

What happens if you try and start it with the control, shift and alt keys held down?
This will give you option to delete your "prefs" file at start up, (say yes). A new, uncorrupted one will be produced.
