Can you go to a previous history state in the history palette, change what you did at that point, but keep the future history actions intact? In other words go back, change a point in the history, but keep all the nest actions the same without re-doing them?

Nope. Everything from that point forward will be deleted once an action is added to the history palette.

Not if you choose Allow Non Linear History in the Palette options. While this option allows you to roam backward and forward among your History states, you can’t go back 10 steps, change something, then move back to your previous current state and expect to see that change reflected in the document. The good news is that all your other states will remain intact. And, there *are* some ways to use non-linear History to good advantage. Get in there, play around and figure it out—that’s half the fun of using Photoshop
