Photomerge utility limits me to 8 channel RGB whereas my photos are scanned in 16 channel. Also, the Photomerge rotation capability is very course. What’s the procedure for creating a blank page and then adding my 16 channel RGB scanned photos one at a time. Once on the page I can superimpose and rotate them. I know I can’t "import" or "paste" them.

Sixteen channels eh? Wow, I’ve only got R,G and B in mine! 😉

I jest 🙂 and of, course we know you are referring to "bits per channel"

One way would be to simply convert your 16 bit images to 8 bit before running Photomerge.

You can merge and join 16 bit images by hand – especially if they are shot carefully with sufficient overlap.

Make a new canvas to the width required, then drag each of the images onto the canvas. Temporarily reducing the opacity of the overlaying layers will aid the "matching up" procedure. Use layer masks to blend the transitions and the distort and skew functions in Transform to align the various elements.

I’m going to create a new post for this question, but I thought I’d give you first crack at it. When I drag from a scanned photo to a canvas the photo entirely fills the canvas; in fact a tiny portion of the photo entirely fills the canvas. How do I drag the photo (e.g., 5"x5") onto a canvas (e.g., 10"x20") and have the two images remain in correct proportion to one another?

Thanks for your useful response.

Match the pixel count (ie resolution and image size) on both files

Terrific. I haven’t tried your idea yet, but it makes sense. Thanks greatly.
