I have a problem with my Photoshop’s text sizes being very messed up. It’s hard to explain what exactly is wrong, but for instance, if I choose to add text to a pic and I choose 10 pt, it looks closer to 14-16 pt at regular 100% magnification. The text size is actually showing up bigger than the pt size selection I chose. I don’t know how to ‘reset’ it, so to speak, so that text sizes are showing up properly. I often have to create specialized text sizes (1, 2, 3) to get it to show up at 8 or 10 pt.

Type some text, then highlight it (no need to confirm the text, just highlight it). Now open the Character Palette in the options bar at the top on the right. Check your Scale. Is it at 100%?

I don’t know how to ‘reset’ it,

Click the little arrow on the tool bar and select "Reset Tool" from the fly-out.

Also, make sure your document resolution is set correctly. If you are used to working with 300ppi files then suddenly inadvertently create one at 72ppi the point size will look different.
