Panning?? I’m most interested in how it will do that.. (O;

What brand/model? It makes a difference. The camera has be *able* to be controlled (many are), and then you either need software from the manufacturer, or some enterprising person or third party. F’rinstance ‘Cam2Com’ is one that controls many Olympus (and *only* Olympus) cameras… Used to be free, but is now shareware I think.

The software would be specific to your camera make/model. Try contacting the distributers direct, or look on their web site.

For instance, I use the FujiFilm Hyperutility – mainly to shoot tethered, but it can provide limited camera control too.

Hi there,

Some Astronomical imaging programs can control DSLR’s to some extent. Here is an example of one ;

If you want to control panning, you will need to have a powered camera mount that is capable of being computer controlled. This is how astro cameras are used to control telescope mounts while taking exposures, and also include the ability to autoguide on a moving subject and keep the item in focus at the same time.

Hope this helps.
