Hoping someone could help with this.

When using Adobe PhotoShop my screen flickers then goes blank for a few seconds then comes back. This happens quite frequently usually when I try to do anything such as change tool or edit file. As you can imagine this is very frustrating and makes it difficult to use PhotoShop.

I have Creative Suite 2 installed and I only get this problem when using PhotoShop.

My graphics card is a Nvidia GForce FX5200, and I am using a Iiyama LCD monitor.

I hope I have given you enough information, if you need to know more about the problem or my system etc I will be happy to provide details.

Many thanks

This is going to be a graphics board/monitor issue. The first step would be to check with the graphics card maker and see if there is an updated driver, or any help files relating to your problem and/or monitor type.

Then you will have to chase them to get a proper driver if the existing one is not working.

Thanks Don and such a quite reply.

I did wonder if it was the graphics card…

Candy I just had exactly the same issue happen to me over the last week. It was my LCD monitor. I’m in the process of getting a new one.

When this first started happening I my screen would go blank, reappear and then auto-config I contacted the manufacturer of my monitor and they told me to reduce my monitor refresh rate to 60 and this then stopped it auto-configing but is still going blank. So I am guessing it has got either a graphic card or monitor issue.

I have updated my graphics card driver to the most recent. Now I get the same problem when I go into the Nvidia control panel – screen goes blank etc.

Thank you for your advice on this, especially as it appears not to be a PhotoShop issue after all. Much appreciated

Personally given my recent issue, and what you have already done to resolve yours, I would contact the manufacturer of the the monitor again and have it tested. Hopefully replaced if under warranty. Best of luck.

It appears to have been the graphics card. Tried a different monitor and had the same problem. When replaced the graphics card the fan was stuck and wouldn’t rotate so I suspect it was overheating.

Thank you everyone for your advice.

That’s what I love about technology; similar issues may or may not be resolved in like manners, but the knowledge will always lead you closer to the proper solution. Glad to hear you’ve solved your mystery now Candy.
