Hi there, I’m in the process of building my first website, and am using Photoshop to create the site layout. My design consists of a custom shaped frame in the centre of the screen with links alongside it. When the user clicks on a link, they are sent to the corresponding page, which is then displayed inside the frame.

I have been told that in order to make this design I would need to use slices. I have never used slices before, and am at a bit of a loss.

What do I need to do so that when you click on a link the webpage appears inside the centre frame? I’ve experimented with hyperlinks, but for some strange reason, they shift all the slices around them out of place. Can anyone help?

Here is an example of my home webpage:

That has to do with your HTML code, and nothing with Photoshop or Imageready.

I’ve experimented with hyperlinks, but for some strange reason, they shift all the slices around them out of place.

What do you mean by that exactly?

I thought that there might be an option during slicing that I can create a target for a link.

As regards to the hyperlinks:

I was trying to create a link to another page on my site, so I tried using a hyperlink. When the hyperlink was inserted in photoshop the hyperlink ‘box’ seemed to shift all the slices around it slightly.

The problem is, Photoshop is not a program for creating web pages. You really should be using Dreamweaver or GoLive for that. They would be able to do all the things you are wishing Photoshop would do.

Photoshop is for creating and manipulating photographic images.
