I am trying to increase the thickness of a font (any font( in PSCS 2. If I indicate pixel size on the option the font gets Bigger and thicker.
Is there any way to change a font in thickness but not in size?

I was wondering ig anyone has a suggestion?
Thanks
Tina

Rasterize and stroke.

or

Choose faux bold from the character menu.

or

Use a genuine thick font.

Also, you could try adjusting the horizontal scale.

Good point. I also just remembered that you don’t have to rasterize in order to stroke if you use Layer Styles.

You could also try converting the text to a shape (the text won’t be type any more though) and adjust with the path editing tools.

If you use a ‘Multiple Master’ font you should be able to do it easy, but they never really took off.

thanks everyone: I sure have a choice! I am working on a greeting card for a friend. I needed a really thick font because I want an image showing through the letters.
Thanks again

I sure have a choice

That is the rule with Photoshop. We often note that there are at least three ways to do anything with the program.

because I want an image showing through the letters

I have had good luck with Impact for this. It has roughly rectangular capital letters, and if you use a smaller leading than the point size, it makes a nice, tight fit. It is perfect for using as a mask for a photo.
