Hi,
VERY New to photoshop and have a few questions.
Is there away to put my brushes into folders so that when I know what i want I can go right to it? Also When I download brushes it leaves an icon on my desktop. Can I delete this or will the brushes also be deleted even though they have been loaded into photoshop?

Also (o/t) I downloaded an action. I have no idea how to load it. Ive tried going to actions and add a new action but it doesnt give me the option to load on… just create.

Thanks for any and all help.

yes. nothing particularly special about that.

When you load a brush from disk, it gets loaded into phothshop. If photoshop is closed normally, it will save all the customizations in its Preferences files. So technically you don’t need them anymore, but if photoshop were to crash and you lost your preferences, or, you change PCs, you’ll want them as a back up.

So it’s always smart to have all of your custom brushes, patterns, etc.safely tucked away.

You can store them where ever you like, delete them or not. Once loaded into photoshop, it won’t care where they reside.

Peace,

I have no idea how to load it.<<

From the actions palette just select Load Action – 17th item on the list

Or, just drag the atn file onto Photoshop, and it loads into the actions palette.

If you store your Brushes in the Brushes folder inside the Presets folder they will always appear on the dropdown list that you access from the flyout arrow on the Brushes palette. This makes loading them much easier; you won’t have to go to Load Brushes and navigate anywhere.

Same with Actions, Styles, etc.

I prefer to have mine in a different location. Once you load from that location, PS remembers it. I prefer to keep my actions/brushes/styles separate from the ones that ship with PS. But that’s why they make 31 flavors of ice cream.

Point is, PS will remember the last location from which you loaded an action set.
