select layer function is gone? where did it go?

In previous versions I could select the contents of a layer very quickly by using my ctrl key and clicking on the layer. The way I use photoshop layers made this feature very useful to me.

Now I have to move my cursor to the menu bar and choose Select/Load Selection etc. to accompish the same thing.

So I have traded a one step process for a three plus step process.

Is there a work around that may be quicker? a hotkey maybe?
