Hi All,
Some Web Sites do not want Photographs, which are more than 500 KBytes in size, others 300, etc. When scanning, what is the optimal resolution to use, for the photograph to be good and clear in a Web Site?
For my personal use what resolution should I use, in order not to spend too much space and get a photo that is better than good "The Best".
After Cropping and using Autolevel, how much should I resize it to be optimum/best? In Adjustments, When using "Autolevel" do I need to use "AutoColor" too? Please help!
Thanks in advance!!!

There’s no such thing as resolution on the web. The only thing that matters is pixel count.

I have always read that you should use 72dpi (old term) new term = pixels. I just have photoshop’s save to web or whatever and select which ever of the 3 looks good enough to send. I have a choice of 2 or 4 and when I select the 4 I get the original and 3 different high, medium and low images.

Working at 72 ppi gives you an approximation of the size you can expect on a web page when you view the image in PS at 100%. (In reality, modern monitors display at more like 96dpi)

Working at 72 ppi gives you an approximation of the size you can expect on a web page when you view the image in PS at 100%

Which will be the same size as working at 300ppi, or 1ppi, or 1000ppi.

800×600 pixels % will always look the same size, regardless of resolution.

However, what happens to type tool functionality is another story.
