psd image closes in cs2 when jumping or editing in imageready
It makes sense. Otherwise, if you edited the image in IR and saved it, then went back to PS and saved it again, you’d overwrite your ImageReady edits.
Thanks for your input. Actually, it’s very bad for me. I’m hoping there’s a way for me to use it the way I used it in photoshop 7. I used imageready to create jpg’s that are efficient for use on the web. I want my psd files to stay open in photoshop. Many times I have multiple layers and just want to save one of the many parts of the file as a jpg. I don’t see why they changed this if they did. Any changes in the file were "sent" back to the image in photoshop and showed in the history palette. I then would just go back a step because i didn’t want any of the changes. Simple, and exactly what I needed. The way it is now, the image closes and will lose anything that hasn’t been saved. I’m glad I still have Photoshop 7 on my machine, because if this is the way it is, I will probably use 7 for this purpose. Anybody know a way to change the settings for this in cs2? thanks.

I don’t think so. But it has never been an issue for me as I use Ctrl+S frequently during an edit. And I wouldn’t dream of jumping to another app without saving out the work thus far.
You’re going to have to save out that master file anyway, so it makes more sense to do so before jumping to IR.
Yes, I’ve learned my lesson, after it happened a few times, since the program is behaving differently than ps 7. However, I still wonder if it should disappear from photoshop. I save, then I choose some layers, flatten the file for use in imageready. Then have to go back and reopen the same file. Time consuming with big files, and a pain in the neck. I’m always trying to find ways to work quicker. When I need to work in imageready, at this point I think I’ll work in ps 7.
Anybody else know why "jump to" would always be grayed out and what the difference is between that and "edit in"?
update: I called adobe, and according to the person I talked to, this is probably a new "feature". (Image closes in photoshop when editing in imageready.) Just an annoyance that I could always send my input to adobe about, but will just have to live with I guess.
