I’ve noticed that when I batch convert my .NEF files to .jpg they seem to have more loss of color and possibly sharpness than if I manually change an NEFs bit depth to 8 bits and then save as a .jpg file.

What’s going on? How do I get the max fidelity from the batch conversions from .NEF to .jpg ?

thanks

How are you batch converting? Using Actions and the Batch dialog, using Image Processor, or what?

I’m using the Image Processor noactions on the process. The files are originally Adobe 98 RGB. I’m using both on and off with the ICC profile on the Image processor and the reults are the same.
When I check a manually done conversion with a Image processed version, and set the images side by side at the same dimensions, on the same screen, the manually converted image looks better. More toneality.
Please accept myapology for not being as clear as I might have been about my problem. I certainly appreciate any assistance in this matter. It’s of great concern to me as I use the converstion to prepare my mages for a wireservice and I need toget them images with as much quality as i can. (As 8 bit JPG images)
thanks
