Does this make any sense?
No. You’ll have to be more specific about what you’re doing and what you expect, and what happens. For example, when you say "the one I select", that could mean simply having a specific layer targeted or it could mean that you used Control Click on the layer. And that’s not the only thing. Be very specific so we can help.
So, better questions, better answers. <smile>
I’ll try this again then…
I’m normally using PS CS. The PCs at my school’s computer lab have PS CS2 though, and it seems there’s one difference that’s giving me a hard time.
I’ll use the example of aligning a button (shaped round) layer to a text layer. I have the text positioned where I want it on the canvas so I want to align the button to the text centered vertically and horizontally.
In PS CS I would select the text layer, then CTRL-click on the button layer. The Text layer becomes the point of reference for the alignment of the button layer, so I just click on the align buttons and it moves from whereever it is on the canvas to the position of the text.
With CS2, when I select the text layer first and then CTRL click the button layer and then align they align somwhere in between the two objects. I don’t know if they’re aligning to something on the canvas that I’m not aware of.
However, if I select the text layer, the CTRL click on the text layer (creating the selection dotted lines around the text on the canvas) and then CTRL click select the button layer, it will align to the text the way I want it to.
So I more or less figured out a solution, I’m just not sure this is the right solution or the only solution to the task I’m trying to accomplish.
Did that make any more sense that time around?
Thanks again
