Hi there,
I have just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 2 to Photoshop 6. On Elements I could set the ruler to mm which I used a lot. However, on Photoshop 6 there is no option to set to mm – it has all theo ther options. The nearest option is cm but this is nowhere near specific enough for me.

Is there a way to change the ruler to mm that I am missing or is this a very annoying chnage that has been made to photoshop?
Thanks
Heather.

I have just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 2 to Photoshop 6.

There is no upgrade path from Elements to Photoshop 6 – or to the current version for that matter.

In fact Photoshop 6 has not been available to buy since the turn of the century. It is four versions old.

If someone has sold you PS6, they sold you a pup. Ripped you off and, unless they provided you with a transfer of licence, they have sold you an illegal copy. You won’t be able to register it and there will be no upgrade path to the current or future version. 🙁

As for the MM/CM issue, it’s so far back I can’t remember. But have a look in the Preferences.

When I said ‘upgrade’ I merely meant that I had a copy of PS 6 so it was an ‘upgrade’ for me. I have already registered it with Adobe and it was fine. It is not an illigal copy at all. I realise it is nowhere near the new versions of PS but I simply cannot afford the latest.

Thanks for suggesting the preferences but unfortauntely that is where I’ve been looking and it lists everything but mm.

have already registered it with Adobe and it was fine.

Then you’ve been lucky. There are some unscrupulous people out there who will do anything to get your credit card details 🙁

There were some OEM copies circulating. Strictly speaking, it’s still not legal to sell them as those disks were originally bundled with computers. If you’ve managed to register it however, you’ve found yourself an economic way of getting onto the upgrade path.

So if you really want MM as well as CM, why not upgrade to the latest version, CS2, which, in just about every way, is a much more powerful animal than PS6?

Best of luck with it – and welcome to the forums.

Chris.
