Hey, noobie here. I just bought CS2 for Windows (XP SP2) not long ago and I’m having a rather odd and irritating problem with it. On the old versions of PS that I used, stepping backwards wouldn’t deselect the current layer. On CS2, if I need to ‘step back’ to the first thing I did to a layer, it switches to the previously selected layer.
I wonder if I’m describing this correctly. Let me post step by step what it does.
Make two layers. Do something on Layer 1 (Pencil marks, for example). Then switch to Layer 2, make one pencil mark. Hit Control-Alt-Z. Back in PSCS and PS7, it would simply undo the mark and leave you on Layer 2. In CS2, it undoes the mark and switches you back to Layer 1. Hitting "Undo" (Control-Z) will not change layers, but I can’t do multiple Undos like I can Step Backwards – yes I do this often.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been working on the wrong layer because of this. Is there a way to make it so it doesn’t switch layers like this?
