If I have an existing font and the color is blue.

How do I go back and change it to another color like red or whatever?

I am using Photoshop CS2

BTW the color picker is not working in this case because I applied a layer style [Pattern Overlay] which I want to keep but just change the font color.

If possible i prefer not to Rasterize my type either because I might still want to go back and change the text later.

Thanks
Dave

Change the Blend Mode in the Layer Styles dialog. Or apply Color Overlay and play with the Blend Mode and Opacity on that. Play with it until you get the effect you want.

Oops, disregard this post. I just noticed that you can’t use the Color Picker.

In the Layer Style dialog box, set the Pattern Overlay blending mode to Luminosity. Then change the color of the text in the usual manner.
