ink refills, or generics ?

On my older canon printer I used generics for a long time, they worked fine. The printer finally ended up with clogged heads, weather it was due to the cartridges or it would have happened anyway I don’t know… oh… so I’m looking for advice on places to purchase generics… buying canon brand is not an option… I was also looking at possible refill kits ?? I have a Pixma ip4300… with the chip on the cartridge which I’ve been told you can reset ??
and I don’t print full color pictures that need to be color perfect… for that I take my photos to the lab…

Check out http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/ on the latest re: filling one of the chip cartridge versions. BTW, there are methods for unplugging (if that is what it actually is) Canon printheads. Folks there can guide you to that as well.
