I use Windows XP, have all the new applications for Adobe like Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2 and so on. The problem is I can’t use my help files in any of the applications. I get a message that says Operation can’t be completed. Next window says Instruction at 0x00864a4b referenced memory at 0x00f50b08. The memory could not be written. I get this with GoLive CS2, Photoshop CS2, and Illustrator CS2.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to get this working? Also, in the ‘program files\adobe\adobe help center, the ahc.exe has a ‘?’ beside the exe file.

Thank you.

I had tried all of the things that you refer too from the link above. Mine is different in that I am not getting the message that it is not loaded, I am getting the error message above in my last message.

I have deleted all of the files I read that I had to do, and also doing everything else, I still cannot get the help files to work.

Like I said, when I view my ahc.exe files it gives me a question mark beside it telling me it ain’t there?

Let me add one more thing. The help for my Word does work. It only has to do with my Adobe software?

Thanks.

Elizabeth,

Did you read the first part of the FAQ?

First, ensure you have the latest help centre and Photoshop Help package: Help Centre 2.1:

I have done all of the ideas you have given me, and nothing is working. That is why I asked if there was something else I could do? When I try and load the Photoshop software again, it will not load this, and I continue to get the same error that is in my first message.

Thanks.

Elizabeth,

There is free support on installation issues, so call Adobe Customer Support. You will be asked for a CC/DC number, but you won’t be charged.

Hi Elizabeth,

First a couple of questions,

1.
Did you install creative suite(or single products)in the default location? (On the C: drive – C:\Program Files\Adobe\)

2.
If you browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Packages, are there Zip files starting with the name AdobeHelpCenter_2.1_ ?

3.
If you browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe CS2\Adobe Help Center you say that there is a question mark beside the exe file, what color is this question mark? (if it is blue, then this is correct)

4.
Are you able to manually startup the helpcenter by double clicking the AHC.exe file? Or the same error?

Things to try:

1)
Disable all startup items and temporary disable firewall/anti-spyware programs and try to startup the helpcenter once more.
(to disable all startup items you should go to the windows start menu – choose ‘RUN’ and type ‘msconfig’ – go to the tab called startup items and disable all. (this prevents other programs from interfering)

2)
Create a new user account (with admin priveleges) and try to startup The AHC from this account. (just to see if it is not related to the user profile or read and write issues)

Regards,

Rogier.
