I’m trying to figure out where the command is for extracting an image on Adobe 6.0. Can’t find it anywhere?! Can anyone help? Thanks…

what do you mean by "extract" an image? from what? to what? and adobe is a company, not an application. i’m assuming you mean photoshop 6.

Yes…I mean PS 6.0.

I’m trying to extract an image from a photo in order to copy and paste it as a layer on another photo.

PS6 was a long time ago, and I can’t remember when "Extract" was introduced.

If it is in PS6, it will be in the Filters Menu.

I believe it came in Photoshop 7 and was improved in CS. Not much done to it any more even though it doesn’t work as well as it should or as easily as other products that do the same thing.

I think it’s interesting how many of the features Adobe has added to Photoshop are only about 1/4 to 1/2 half as good as when you can get from a third party. They keep adding things just aren’t all that effective. Sharpening, Masking, Noise Reduction, Len Distortion Correction, Photo Stitching, etc. etc.

I can’t remember when "Extract" was introduced.

Extract was introduced in Photoshop 5.5.

In PS6, you need to create a selection around the portion of the image you want to copy using the various selection tools (lasso, wand marquee – also Quick Mask Mode for cleaning up the selection with the brush tools)) and then copy and paste into the new document.

Extract was in PS 6 but it may be under Edit or Image. They moved it to the Filter menu in some version, maybe 7?

Spot on Ed. It’s under Image. In PS7 and later they moved it to the Filter menu.

The extract command is located second from the bottom under the "image" menu.
