File open, but no picture in sight

I was working on a number of pictures, when one of the pictures I had just opened showed as open (ie. could see it in the layers, navigator windows, etc), but I could not actually see or work on the picture(s).

I have tried a number of options and I still have no picture window, whether my PS CS2 is in full screen or not.

Oddly enough, when I take a screen shot, and paste it into Paint, the picture that’s "open" shows up in the screenshot, to the side. But if I minimize windows, I cannot get this "open" document to show up, either on my menu bar or anywhere else.

I tried rebooting my computer, and that didn’t help reset anything.

If you don’t understand what I mean, I posted a pic of a screenshot here: <http://meryddian.net/blog/photoshoppic.png>

Please help. 🙁

That’s odd. The quickest way to address it is to reset your preferences per the procedure in the faq.

Already tried that. :\

Sheesh, I hope it doesn’t come down to reinstalling!

Can you set your screen to a higher resolution? That may make the image visible so you can drag it into view.

How did you reset your preferences?

Manually? If so which files did you delete?

Or with the key combination? If so did you get a dialog box?

Erm, this is probably the first thing you tried, but have you tried the options in Window – Arrange?

Sheesh, I hope it doesn’t come down to reinstalling!

Reinstallation affects your settings far less than resetting your preferences. But let’s be clear, I’m not recommending that.

Also you should know that many people say that they have reset their preferences, but it is always unclear that they have done so. They THINK they’ve done it but not. That’s why John is asking the questions he is in post #4.

You probably have multiple monitors enabled by the fact that the screen capture shows the image on the right of the desktop.

You need to go to the desktop, and disable "extend desktop into second display"

Otherwise, unplug the second display if you have it plugged in, if you can’t do this for some reason.

Also try Window->Arrange in Photoshop as suggested above.
