It’s such an annoying problem that is seemingly unreproducable. Just happened to me today. I had two completely different images open. In order to save the one that was generating the error message, I had to close the other, completely unrelated image. Then it allowed me to save. I dunno. Gremlins <shrug>.

<nodding> Yeah, the workarounds vary in both technique and degree of success.

I had the problem with 6 open files. Suggested workarounds weren’t working, so I "Saved As" a psd file, then saved that as a jpg file. That worked every time. When I got to the last file, I was able to Image>Duplicate, close the original and then save the file. Hopefully Adobe will figure out a solution.

I have this problem very often, at home and at school. (graphical school) Whenever I have this problem nothing works, even not selecting another one first. Most of the time I do ‘save as’ in this case, but then I have another program. The file that gave the error message is not editable anymore, even without photoshop. open. It keeps saying that a program is still using it. The only way to do anything with the file (rename, put it somewhere else, delete) is to log off my pc and log on again, or completely reboot. I had it 3 times today. Once I had it in a classroom and the teacher would call it a ‘typical photoshop. bug’

This will be little comfort, Ayla, but I have repeatedly had the same problem. I’ve posted a request on this forum several times, in hopes that someone would know the solution, or know what’s CAUSING it, but I’ve never gotten a reply that was of any value. So… You are not alone … this same problem plagues me frequently.

Best of luck.
