I have a plugin and I like the way it alters the image at 72dpi…because the amount of it is dependant on pixels. I am talking about the neat image noise reduction plugin. But I need to make prints at 300 dpi, and whats more at 20cm x 30cm…and the effect it gives at 300 is not even close to what I want. I have been told its because noise reduction is works on pixels. So my question is…is there any way to downsize the pixels without loosing the size I need…or anything you know that might be helpful.

I am doing a series of photoillustrations and neat image when applied to 72dpi works amazingly well……but 300 dpi 🙁 This technique won my heart so much that I think I will never recover if I dont find a way to upscale at 300 dpi…

It’s not clear what you are really doing. Are you trying to _upscale_ from 72 to 300 using neat image? Or does neat image simply fail on true 300 rez originals?

i want to apply the plugin at 72 because it gives the best results in my case and then upscale somehow to 300 without losing quality…any good interpolation softwares or plugins…or any other tips?

you cant rescale in neat image. but i was rather dissapointed at how different it reacted at different resolutions of the same image.

I can’t remember the vendor, but they are the same people that made the Fountain of Youth, and the Time Machine. Oh… and World Peace!

You can’t upscale vector graphics that much without losing quality. Create your images at the final physical size you need and be happy.

i heard so much praises about interpolation softwares…so you’re saying they dont work ? 🙁

You can’t upscale vector graphics that much without losing quality. Create your images at the final physical size you need and be happy.

Um, vector graphics are resolution-independent, so you can resize them as much or as little as needed. I think you meant to say raster, not vector.

There is no way to upsample from 72ppi to 300ppi and realize the same quality at an image that originated at 300ppi – Photoshop (and any other app) is inventing pixels that don’t exist during the process.

Yes, and that is the problem. Vectors don’t interpolate; they actually draw precisely to scale because the contents are stored as mathematical statements, or commands as in "draw a arc starting at x,y for …".

ahhh…..too bad…

I’m sorry. The physcial world is a pain. But someone will make a recommendation regardless and you can try theirs. Maybe it will suffice, but it seems you have a critical eye so I doubt it.

Impossible. It can’t even be done theoretically. A 72ppi image has less information than a 300ppi image of the same physical size. Information can not be created out of thin air. What you’re asking for can not be done and will never be possible, cheesy Hollywood flicks notwithstanding.

You mean "raster" (pixel) graphics. Vector (mathematical) graphics can be resized without loss.
