Different URLs for Slices

Hi All – I have created an animated gif in Imageready – not problem there:
http://cranberrycorners.ca/dump/BannerHome.gif

However – whenever I choose the slice from the Animation menu and enter in the URL and view in Internet Explorer the image is not hyper linked.

Secondly – and just as important – the gif is actually a "rotating banner ad" for three companies that sponsor me – but when I assign a URL to the first sliace it proogates itself to every other slice. Not good!

Please help!

That is correct. One image can have only one URL assigned to it. That’s how HTML works.

That is correct. One image can have only one URL assigned to it. That’s

Ok. Then why does Imagesready offer a pull down menu for each individual slice ? Why not just a pull down menu that gets applied to the entire image.

Each slice is an individual image.
You can also create "image maps" with "hot spots" with each hot spot linked to a URL. This allows you to assign different URLs to specific areas of an image.

One solution is to have timed show/hide layers, with the layers positioned in the same spot. That way, the specific layer showing can have associated links, actions, and so-forth just as if they were separate elements (which they are). Do _not_ nest the layers. Overlay them.

That said, I wonder how many people looking at the rotating (animated) images would know to click on one to invoke a link. You and I would, but I have some pages with a lot of things I thought intuitive and monitoring them shows very few people ‘get it.’

As far as HTML is concerned, each slice is a separate picture.

Each frame in an animated GIF is part of the same picture, but each slice is a separate picture; all the pictures are reassembled on a Web page using a table.
