Is there way to round the 4 outside edges in a picture? The outside of the edges will be the same color as the background, so the canvas does not have to have round edges.

Thx,
Scott

Create a layer via copy. Using the Elliptical Marquee tool make your selection. Then create an other copy of the layer. The easist way for you to see your selection is to just fill the first layer. Just by selecting the layer and pressing Backspace (for PC, dont know the short cut for Mac) should do the trick.

Thx,
Scott,

Do you mean a "vignette"? An oval shaped image? If so, open image and copy the background layer.
Fill the background layer with colour of choice.
Hit D on keyboard to set fore/background colours to default (B&W) With the Eliptical marquee tool draw your oval on the top layer. Apply a layer mask.Third icon from left bottom of layers palette. A rectangle with a circle in it.
Have a play with the feathering in the Marquee tool to fade the edge of the selection. 30-50 pixels to start with.
