running duo PIII 800’s, on ide raid setup under W2K with 1 gig memory, and a 11 gig scratch drive. Everything ran fine for several months, but now if i have multiple images open and go to move an image to a page to do a multiple image setup, it instantly reboots the system. i have double checked everything, and all hardware is new except the Matrox G400 Max duo head video card (was in system before as single cpu setup).I’m only running one monitor, resolution of 1024 X 768.
Any ideas???? I’m out of them………

I think Dave meant to copy the following link from the FAQ section: Mathias Vejerslev "Computer locks up, shuts down, or reboots while running Photoshop" 6/5/03 4:49pm </cgi-bin/webx?50/1>

It definately sounds like a hardware issue.

I had a problem recently that caused my computer to shut down instantly when I tried to change the paging file for win2k.

The problem you are having seems unrelated, but perhaps not as much as you’d think.

I found out that my usb 2.0 card and my video card were using the same interrupt address, assigned automatically by win2k, and when I had something plugged into the usb 2.0 port the computer wouldn’t even reboot. When I unplugged the usb device the computer would reboot.

It turned out that the driver on the usb 2.0 device was old and had indeed an issue with win2k. I went and got the new drivers and now I can change the page file and no problems rebooting.

It was not that the fact that win2k put the usb and the video card on the same IRQ, but that the driver for the usb was conflicting with the video card and "conspiring" with win2k to cause the problem.

Maybe you didn’t want a fable, but here is the moral anyway. Check for new drivers for the video card. Check in computer management for any conflicts. Try to boot up in safe mode and see if you still have a problem. Check the raid configuration.

OK. I may be completely wrong and youv’e already tried all of this and it doesn’t help anyway. Good luck with it and I for one would be interested in the outcome.
