Inside the parenthesis is to give you a the idea of what I am talking about.

(In my Photoshop Layer Palette, there is an "eye" icon that determines the visibility of a layer. When you click it, the icon in the box and the layer next to it disappears from the picture and when you click it again, it appears.) However, in a help video, it shows a "link" icon right next to the "eye" icon. How can I make the "link" icon show?

That was the way it was in versions previous to CS2. The Link icon is now at the bottom of the palette (I believe; don’t have CS2). You Shift-select the layers you want linked and hit that icon if I understand correctly.
