Another way that’s very easy for rookies is to open a new blank image the size that you want to be your final size and then open each photo that you want to include one at a time so that both the blank background and this new photo are open at the same time. Then drag and drop it onto the blank image. If you do it this way, each added photo is on it’s own layer on top of the new blank image, so each can be moved, transformed for size, cropped, color corrected, etc. to get the final montage the way that you want. You can then close that photo, open another and repeat the drag and drop process. Remember to select the layer that you want to adjust in the layers menu of the new photo when you want to adjust it and only that layer will be changed by the following adjustments. You can also name each layer as they are added so it’s easy to select it again later when you are making the adjustments. If you do it the way that the other poster suggested the first image is on the background layer and can’t be moved to fit with the others. Only the added photos will be moveable.

I have PS7/Windows and I’m reasonably adept at it, but I can’t figure out how to put more than one photo on the screen at a time – that is, create a montage of 3 or 4 photos. Can anybody walk me through it? Mostly JPGs or TIFFs.
Read PS7’s help for "Canvas Size". The basic procedure is:
1. Open your first image, and increase its canvas size to accomodate all remaining images;
2. Open the second image, do a Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C to select/copy, then go back to your first image and Ctrl-V to paste;
3. As each image is pasted, you can position it exactly where you want by doing Ctrl-Leftclick/move.
OK, I’m halfway there, thanks to the advice.
I opened a blank canvas and resized it. I opened Image 1, copied and pasted it onto that canvas, but it "snapped" to the center.
I opened Image 2 and copied/pasted, but it, too, "snapped" to the center, covering Image 1.
I do not seem to be able to select and move EITHER Image. What am doing wrong?
