Hey Photoshop users,
I’ve created over 90 Photoshop tutorials and have them on my website and would like to get some feedback on them. I believe they are all original, well most of them anyways. I don’t seem to be getting many hits however. Perhaps 2-3 a week. My question is this, to you Photoshop experts, are these tutorials any good? Can you see where these would be of any use to beginners? I put many, many hours into these and the results thus far have been very disappointing. Any ideas? Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi Jason
I have just had a quick look at a few of your tuts, and they look fine to me. You have done a great job, and as you say, they seem to be original as well.
It is probebly down to people not being able to find your site, rather than the content, which is fine m8.
You probebly need to get your site listed on more search engines etc (don’t ask me how though;-).
Good luck

I’ve bookmarked it for future use. I also poked around quickly to get a general idea of what is there to learn. I think its very helpful since I really know nothing about photoshop yet. I even have all the classroom in a book series for all of CS2. I am currently in the middle of InDesign, but I’ve been in the middle of that for about 4 months now…. just haven’t had much time lately….

Thanks Jason for taking the time to create this for people like us!!! It’s not very often that you find people willing to help others. A great number of people feel what they know is for their benefit only…..now if I could only create a website explaining about the printing industry…. hmmmmmmmmm

I looked at it briefly and the one thing I note is that you haven’t included crossplatform commands. I know that sounds petty but I don’t like going to a site that only has Mac commands and I’m pretty sure the feeling is the same for a Mac user.

Otherwise, after a brief look, it seems to have some useful info. Loads quickly which is very important.

I think for the most part, these look great. Well done. As for why you’re not getting more hits… no idea. I’ll post a link on my site to send some folks your way; hopefully that’ll help a little.

Dear Jason,

You made a really great effort, and your website is telling me that you are a really promising CG artist.

1- I was really impressed by (Grass) simulation tutorial.

2- You have shown that you are yourself impressed by the styles of Adobe Flash buttons. But I liked (Pearl) very much.

3- As the case with (Glossy Globe) you would do even better! Reflection map is not so perfect.

4- Also, for the chrome tutorial, I think you made a wrong choice of slim letters. Thicker letters (I would use bold sans serifs such as Bold Helvetica) would be better for the chrome tutorial. The reflection mapping you use should be more impressive.

5- Your website color scheme and the overall design is great looking (aluminum colors).

6- Visit some other great tutorial sites such as:

http://www.myjanee.com

And try to come up with some additional ideas.

7- Why are you disappointed? Don’t like this attitude. Be little bit optimistic. Great sites would never succeed without a very long patience!

Thank you very much for every minute you spent to come up with this good seed.

I’m not an expert in PS by any means. I took a quick look at your site and I think you have some very interesting and cool looking stuff there!

One suggestion, based on viewing tutorials on the wacom website (I think it was): Provide a PDF with each tutorial that can be downloaded from the page with the tutorial. What they did was to pack most of them down to 1 page in PDF (8.5×11" page) and it makes for a very good quick reference to download and save away, printed or not, for future reference.

Keep up the good work:)

Hello Bob,
Thanks for the advice. I know eventually I will go back and put all of the Mac commands in but for now, when I do make new tutorials, I will start using them. Thanks again.
Take care,
Jason

As a novice user I am always looking for new sites with tutorials to try. Yours look real nice and helpful so I am adding it to my list of sites to use for tutorials. Thanks for helping people like me advance our knowledge of Photoshop.

I just checked out a couple of you tutorials and they are easy to follow. I think you should definitely continue your endeavors. Once your site catches on, you will surely have more hits. Until then, feel good about the good work you have done to this point. Even if you help just a few people for now, that counts too.

A worthy site indeed! Thanks for bringing it to our attention. And there lies the answer to the low number of hits. It takes time for the word to spread. This forum is a good start. I, for one, will recommend it to some twenty or so other PS users when we meet again in early December.
