I own PS 7.0 and want to upgrade to PS CS. I’ve been told that if I purchase the full program I have to register it on-line which will prevent me from using it on two computers (home/office). Is this correct? If so, is there a way around this issue without violating any restrictions? Also I’ve been told that if I simply purchase the upgrade version, this restriction is not an issue.

Please advise.

thanks,

Phil

The EULA alows you to install it on 2 computers. What you can’t do is use both of those computers at the same time. Basically you can have it on your work PC and your home PC just as long as you only use one at a time. Douglas

No. You can activate CS on two computers, no problem.

Also I’ve been told that if I simply purchase the upgrade version, this restriction is not an issue.

No, it’s the same whether you buy the upgrade or the full version. Here’s the link on activation … http://www.adobe.com/activation/main.html

You can run the same copy of CS on two computers at the same time, no problem. It may violate the EULA but there’s nothing physically keeping you from doing it.

Activation seems to be–at least for the vendors–a good solution to piracy. I wonder how long it will take the underground to unravel how activation works, so it can be bypassed.

In re the two computer thing: Obviously, the intent is to restrict the use to one person. Perhaps one day computers will come with retina scanners—sit down at any machine in world and it recognizes you and loads whatever SW you are licensed for from a central server.

Didn’t take them too long … there were bootleg copies which bypass activation available the first day CS shipped 🙂
