Hi all

imagine a straight line, horizontal, 6 inches long.

I’d like to leave 1 inch straight at each ends (horizontal lines) and arc the remaining 4 inches (in the middle) until i like the shape.

I was trying to do it with windows’Paint program

NOW NOW… don’t laugh….LOL!

and my wife suggested i use the expensive program to do it !!

that would be Photoshop.

she’s probably right, but i always use photoshop to modify pictures so i don’t know where to start!

Use Illustrator if you have it, otherwise, in PS, I would draw a path and stroke it afterwards

If you don’t have Illustrator (like me), you can use the pen tool in photoshop.

It isn’t intuitive but once you get the hang of it, it’s nice.

We don’t know what your image is for, and what elements, if any, have to be "preserved" when you’re all done. That drives how you do it. That said, just start here…

Click on the pen tool. Look in the options bar at the top. On the left, three buttons, choose Path.

Click on one end, then shift click some distance across. Get the Add Anchor Point tool (see help file if you can’t find it) and click on the middle of the line.

Now, click on that newly added anchor point and drag up.

That’s a vector path.

Now you have to stroke it. The easiest thing to do is to click on your pencil tool, and set the pencil size to what you want in terms of pixels. Then right click on the vector and stroke the path. You’ll have your choice of tools to use, use the Pencil.

There are at least three ways to do anything in photoshop, that’s one, (maybe).

thanks for the input u’guyz..

… so if i’d want to draw a bow and arrow,
the easiest way to draw a bow, is to make a straight line and then follow Tony’s instructions…right ?
