I have a question in regards to page setup functionality in Photoshop CS2 9.0. We are using Windows XP and a HP color laser jet 3600NI printer. I first create a Photoshop (psd) file. I then go through the following navigational steps:

File > Page setup
Click the Printer Button
Select Printer that I am using from drop down menu
Click Properties button

I then arrive at the document properties dialog box and under Paper Options I set custom dimensions by clicking on the custom button and entering in the width and length and clicking the save button and then ok button. After that I move to the finishing tab and change the settings from portrait to landscape. After all that is done I click Ok to exit out of all the print setup screens. Then after that I save as pdf by going to File > Save As and choosing the file format .pdf and entering in a filename and then clicking save. Upon clicking save I get the adobe pdf attributes dialog box. I select “Smallest file size” from adobe pdf preset dropdown and then checkmark "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" only. After that we click save pdf.

When we try to open the pdf in Adobe Reader 6.0 we are experiencing strange things. Sometimes the file will open with the correct custom page size and sometimes it will not. We are at the same computer, with the same printer attached each time we open the document. We open the document in the same manner each time.

Do you have any suggestions that will alleviate the issue where the custom page settings are not reading correctly when we open up the file in Adobe Reader.
