Hello,
I store all my photos on an external hard drive. I recently moved the hard drive from being connected directly to my PC and now it is accessed via a wireless router. I am able to access the drive, open photos, copy photos from folders on my PC to the hard drive. However, I cannot save edited photos directly to the external hard drive from Photoshop. I get the following error:

Could not save as “<drive name\filename>” because of a disk error.

I’ve tried to search for similar errors but haven’t found anything.

I’m using Photoshop Version 8.0

Platform:
P4 3.2GHz
1GB DDR Ram
GEForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB video card
1024 x 768 (60Hz)

Any suggestions on what may be causing this error? Thank you.

Saving across a network has been tried with varying results. I, myself, do it daily, others report problems. Adobe recommends that you NOT do that. They say, save locally and transfer.

Saving across a wireless network adds another wrinkle to the equation of reliability of saving across a network.

I’m sure it’s possible that there’s a setting, a configuration, a network architecture, etc. issue that could resolve the problem, but hunting for it is going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I’d look to a different workflow, at least where photoshop is concerned.
