Adobe Updater ALWAYS FAILS

Hello,

I have 2 PCs w/ Photoshop CS2, bridge, Illustrator CS2, etc. running fine. However, on one PC, Adobe Updater periodically pops up with a slew of updates, and every time I accept, each installation claims to fail (it pops up a box that says that it fails and gives me the option to install the next on the list, and that too fails).

I’ve tried to search the Internet for a solution (no avail), and tried to reinstall the Updater (cannot find it as a separate program)…

Does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks!

JP

Go to the download page(s) on Adobe.com, grab any needed updaters and install them manually from the desktop.

Then, turn off the setting for AutoUpdate.

Thanks for the reply… that’s what I’ve been doing (except for disabling the updater), but I was hoping for a way to get the updater working again. Otherwise, I have to remember to periodically check all my purchased Adobe products for updates.

thanks,

Maybe all your apps are already fully updated? If so, then there’s no need to look for more, and sooo, you can turn the AutoUpdater mechanism(s) off.

If you get around the web regularly at all, surely you will bump into news about any incrememental updates for your applications. When you read about them, go get them manually.

Personally, I don’t like ANYTHING on my system to update automatically, because there ave been too many occasions where the updates themselves are flawed or cause problems. I’m not generally an early adopter for this reason. I wait for the fanatics to up[date, and then I read their reports on the sites and forums which focus on the applications.

BTW and just as an example, I’m a Mac User, and I read the dispatches at MacFixit.com every day, just to keep abreast of updates, fixes, problems, etc. This gives me a good idea about whether updates for the MacOS and other key products are generally working well or not for the early adopters, and how to fix any problems if they occur.

When the Updater Window is open make sure you close down both Photoshop and Bridge before clicking "Update Now".
