PS7.0.1-"Save for Web" won’t

When I try to ‘Save for Web’, I get an error message:
Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed.

I’ll save you my commentary (I’m sure you can guess); I just want to get this thing running.
I d/l the latest update, and searched the Adobe online Knowledge Base. Didn’t work. Would prefer to NOT have re-install.

First try holding Ctrl+Alt while you click Save for Web. That will reset defaults for that option. If that doesn’t help, close PS and search your hard drive(s) for "Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp" and either rename or delete it. Restart PS.

If that still doesn’t fix the problem, the temporary fix is to run REGEDIT and delete the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Save For Web 3.0

Sometimes, this means you are tring to save an image that is in 16 bit per channel mode. Convert the image to 8 bits per channel and see if that helps.
