I have just bought a digital camera and taken my first set of photos. I have made master files in CS2 working on an XP platform. I know how to size my images for prints or for slides or the internet, but what do I do now when I want to save them on a disk and project them on my new lcd projector. Does it make any difference what their size is? If so, how do I work with them in CS2. They are currently 10.2mg files and I know I don’t leave them that way. Thanks a lot.

Stanley,

It depends on the resolution of the projector. i.e. the projector could be 1024 x 768 px.

Also the size on the projection screen varies with the distance/zoom.

Hi, Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I now have everything set up for projection but I have saved my photos at a 3:2 ratio. They do project well but more of the computer screen is projected than the photo alone. Do I need to resize all of my photos to the 4:3 ratio (alternative is 16:9) which is one of the options on the projector in order to fill the screen with the photo? Is there any way to blank out the screen where the photo does not appear at 3:2?

Thanks for the help.

By changing the aspect ratio you would either be cropping some portion of the images, or distorting the images (which I’m sure you don’t want to do).

It’s like the old letterboxing debate in viewing movies shot in a panoramic format.

I would always choose letterboxing over cropping.

How to blank-out the unused screen is most likely a function of your projector.

Otherwise you could, add the color of you choice above and below the picture in the file itself.

I think I have figured out how to make the photo take the entire screen in my laptop which is what the projector shows on screen. That should do it for me but I do appreciate your responses. Thanks a lot.
