Hi,

The above is installed on my wife`s PC, when she uses the save to web function to compress a picture in JPEG format she has stored in the same directory, instead of it saying the file already exists do you wish to over write, it just creates a copy of the same picture albeit smaller in size but with the same name – strange, anybody got any ideas?

Spaces in the filename are converted to underscores to make them more web-compatible.

Only if that behaviour is set in the Save for Web options!

Which it is by default. That default would not have been changed by someone who asked this question.

In Windows Explorer do you have the option set to display the file extensions? By default, Windows does not display file extensions. This setting affects the file open and save dialogs of almost every other program as well. The two files probably have different extensions but since Windows isn’t displaying the extension it looks as if they both have the same name. This is a common source of confusion.

To change the setting: { Windows Explorer: Tools / Folder Options… ; <View> ; Advanced Settings ; [ ] Hide Extensions for known file types } (the [ ] means unchecked).
