I recently made a signature brush by scanning my signature and then adding it to any image as a transparent overlay.
It works great: my only problem is: how can I be sure that my signature is not too big in proportion to the image?
I am printing an 11X17 image at 140 resolutions. I pre printed my signature only at the same resolution as the image and it looks huge?

I would like to add my signature like an autographed painting.

I would appreciate any suggestions

Thanks
Tina

Got Illustrator and a Wacom Tablet?

Use a calligraphic brush and create a vector version of your signature.

Move the paths into Photoshop and create a Custom Shape.

BOOM! You have a signature that is cleanly resizable for use at any resolution.

Hi Barry: the brush signature is great on the image visually. when I print it is too big. I was wondering if there is a ratio I could use before printing to be sure that the signature is tiny compared to the image.
If the image res is 140 how do I deermine what pixel size should my brush be? Thanks

"the brush signature is great on the image visually. when I print it is too big" this makes no sense. If the image with sig applied looks good on screen it should print the same, if not something whacky is happening.

"If the image res is 140 how do I deermine what pixel size should my brush be?" a 140 ppi res image is 140 pix. per inch, therefor a 140 pix sig would span 1" on the image, 70 pix sig would be 1/2"…etc.

Hi Barry: thanks a lot. I made a huge mistake. I had printed the signature alone after cropping it. I had enlarged it
Thanks a lot for the info

Oops! 🙂 I just hate it when that happens.
